One hour away from Santiago South-East ,by the fertile waters of the Maipo River in the high Maipo is the Concha y Toro vineyard founded in 1883 by Don Melchor Concha y Toro, a Chilean lawyer, entrepreneur and politician, decided to exploit the winemaking potential of the Maipo Valley. He brought in French vines stocks from Bordeaux .The winery became successful a time when there was a keen interest in our national wine production, in the rich farmland of the picturesque little town call “Pirque “, it still maintain all the traditions of the renowned Chilean Wines like Don Melchor, Amelia, Terrunyo, Marquez de casa concha, Trio and Casillero del Diablo are the most well- known brands that this traditional winery is producing at this time. We will visit the  old house of the family, the park and the “Casillero del Diablo “, cellar that is a legend of this vineyard while we try its wines.

After that we will continue to the low Maipo to the Undurraga winery where Francisco Undurraga was one of the pioneers in the Chilean viticulture and winemaking. In 1882 he acquired an agriculture estate 34 kilometers away from Santiago, in the province of Talagante where he planted vines which he had brought personally from Europe in lead capsules in order to resist the passage through the tropics.

The first shipment were made to United States in 1903. At present Viña Undurraga exports its wine to more than 70 countries in the five continents. We will visit the gardens-designed by the renowned French landscaper Pierre Dubois , the modern vilification plant and the underground cellars. Then we end up with a tasting of three Reserve wines.
